Biodiversity & Wildlife

We have a number of biodiversity and conservation projects taking place across the Village.

Village-Wide Biodiversity Project

As part of our commitment to supporting biodiversity and improving the natural environment around us, we have employed a head gardener who specialises in sustainable gardening.

Specialist consultants conduct woodland management reports, ecological assessments and wildlife encouragement reports to assess requirements on how to improve biodiversity within the village so we can make positive changes.

The team are currently working on a project to plant wildflower meadows across our Village to encourage the presence of more insects and bees.

We have identified the Reeds Bay area of the village as a hotspot for biodiversity. To support the growth of the ecosystem and wildlife within Reeds Bay, we have planted aquatic plants around Reeds Bay Lake, carefully selecting native species which are the most attractive to local wildlife, and have the longest life span, so the lake flowers for as long as possible to support insects and ecosystems throughout the year.

To ensure we have a healthy habitat for fish, plants and other wildlife, we have installed a solar-powered aeration system to keep the water in Reeds Bay oxygenated. We plan to conduct regular audits of Reeds Bay Lake to report the positive impact on biodiversity by the creation of the lake..
